Miller Sr., 83
BANGOR -- Preston Russell Miller Sr., 83, died unexpectedly at his home in Bangor, Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009.
Pres was born in Alexandria, Va., and was educated in Washington, D.C. schools and at George Washington University. After studying at the United States Navy School of Music, he served in the South Pacific during World War II and survived a torpedo attack on his ship, the USS Pennsylvania. Stationed in Portland at the end of the war, he met his wife of 58 years, Lenore Forgione Miller, who died in 2005.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH -- Stacey E. Savoy, 50, of Pleasant Street, in Old Orchard Beach died at her residence later Monday evening.
She was born in Biddeford, June 5, 1959, the daughter of Louis and Virginia Day Simpson. Stacey attended and graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School in 1977. While in high school she enjoyed riding horses and received many blue ribbon awards was including the New Hampshire Junior Champion.
She was a member of the Hollis Center Baptist Church. Mrs.

St. Germaine
1922 - 2009
YARMOUTH -- Minnie was born Aug. 6, 1922, as one of 13 children to Emma and Burdette Miller of Millinocket. She married Ernest St. Germaine in November 1940 at Sherman Station. Ernest and Minnie were married for 66 years. She passed quietly with family by her side at Bay Square Living Facility in Yarmouth on Nov. 17, 2009.
She is survived by a son, Ernest D. St. Germaine of Dallas, Texas, and daughter, Ellen F. Cedrone of Falmouth Foreside; along with her grandchildren, John Paul and Daniel St.

Phyllis Irene Barbour Winchenbach
SCARBOROUGH -- Phyllis Irene Barbour Winchenbach passed away peacefully at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Nov. 19, 2009, with her loving daughter Susan at her side.
She was born April 26, 1928, in Yarmouth, the daughter of Myron and Mary Barbour. Phyllis attended Yarmouth schools and graduated from North Yarmouth Academy. She also attended Gorham State Teachers College and taught school many years teaching in Falmouth and Portland. She enjoyed many summers at their camp with her family in Cushing.
She was a longtime member of the Falmouth Lions Club.

Bruce G. Savoy, 55
OLD ORCHARD BEACH -- Bruce G. Savoy, 55, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009.
He was born on July 26, 1954, in Biddeford, the son of Real L. Savoy Sr. and Eunice G. (Jamieson) Savoy. He was educated in the Old Orchard Beach school system.
Bruce was employed as a code enforcement officer with the town of Wells. He previously worked as a police officer for both the town of Wells and Old Orchard Beach, and was a member of the call fire department. He was also a former animal control officer and was outspoken on animal welfare issues.

Elaine Keesler
Goggi, 63
WALDORF, Md. -- Elaine Keesler Goggi, of Waldorf, Md., passed away on Nov. 15, 2009, at the VA Hospital in Washington, D.C.
She was born on July 9, 1946, in Jackson, Mich. Elaine is a graduate of Deering High School. Her hobbies included needle point and cooking fancy foods. She enjoyed swimming, traveling, being with friends, and mostly doing things with her husband. She was most proud of her time spent with him.
Elaine was predeceased by her father, William Franklin Keesler.

Elizabeth Ann
Leach, 90
BOOTHBAY -- Elizabeth Ann Leach, 90, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at her home in Boothbay after a period of failing health.
Ann, as she was known to her family and friends, was born June 14, 1919, in Long Branch, N.J., the daughter of Charles Henry Leach and Hazel Waterman Leach. She grew up and attended schools in Red Bank, N.J., spending her summers in Trevett and later made Boothbay her permanent residence.
Ann was a businesswoman, an equestrian and thrived on the companionship of her many dachshunds and pugs.

Joyce H. Laatz, 76
YARMOUTH -- Joyce H. Laatz, 76, of Yarmouth, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at the Dover Rehab in Dover, N.H. She was born in Portland on Jan. 7, 1934. She grew up in Springvale and attended local schools.
For many years she had been employed by the State of Maine as a registered nurse.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Laurie Lunnie. She is survived by two granddaughters, Molly Lunnie of Berwick and Kelly Lunnie of Lebanon; and one brother, Ronald Berry of Barefoot Bay, Fla.
A period of visitation will be held on Monday, Nov.

Julius H. Mahar, 75
1934 - 2009
ASHLAND, Ky. -- Julius H. Mahar, 75, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness. Julius was born July 25, 1934, in Portland, the son of the late Floyd and Marguerite Robinson Mahar. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, a member of the Holy Family Church, a member of the Ashland Elks BPOE #350, and enjoyed playing in the Allied Chemical Mens Golf League at Sandy Creek Golf Course.
Julius was also preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine Drown Mahar in 2005.
