WALDORF, Md. -- Elaine Keesler Goggi, of Waldorf, Md., passed away on Nov. 15, 2009, at the VA Hospital in Washington, D.C.
She was born on July 9, 1946, in Jackson, Mich. Elaine is a graduate of Deering High School. Her hobbies included needle point and cooking fancy foods. She enjoyed swimming, traveling, being with friends, and mostly doing things with her husband. She was most proud of her time spent with him.
Elaine was predeceased by her father, William Franklin Keesler.

BOOTHBAY -- Elizabeth Ann Leach, 90, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at her home in Boothbay after a period of failing health.
Ann, as she was known to her family and friends, was born June 14, 1919, in Long Branch, N.J., the daughter of Charles Henry Leach and Hazel Waterman Leach. She grew up and attended schools in Red Bank, N.J., spending her summers in Trevett and later made Boothbay her permanent residence.
Ann was a businesswoman, an equestrian and thrived on the companionship of her many dachshunds and pugs.

YARMOUTH -- Joyce H. Laatz, 76, of Yarmouth, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at the Dover Rehab in Dover, N.H. She was born in Portland on Jan. 7, 1934. She grew up in Springvale and attended local schools.
For many years she had been employed by the State of Maine as a registered nurse.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Laurie Lunnie. She is survived by two granddaughters, Molly Lunnie of Berwick and Kelly Lunnie of Lebanon; and one brother, Ronald Berry of Barefoot Bay, Fla.
A period of visitation will be held on Monday, Nov.

ASHLAND, Ky. -- Julius H. Mahar, 75, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness. Julius was born July 25, 1934, in Portland, the son of the late Floyd and Marguerite Robinson Mahar. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, a member of the Holy Family Church, a member of the Ashland Elks BPOE #350, and enjoyed playing in the Allied Chemical Mens Golf League at Sandy Creek Golf Course.
Julius was also preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine Drown Mahar in 2005.

WESTBROOK -- Lois M. Houle (Gagnon), of Westbrook, died peacefully Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at the Barron Center.
She was born in Westbrook, on June 21, 1917, the daughter of Benjamin E. and Emma Taylor Hebert. Lois attended Westbrook schools and was a 1935 graduate of Westbrook High School. She worked 34 years at the S.D. Warren Paper Company in the Finishing Department.
She was married to Joseph R. Gagnon in February 1942 and together they raised three children. Mr. Gagnon died in 1976. She remarried Roland R. Houle in 1979.

SOUTH PORTLAND -- Arlene A. Turner, 72, of Summit Terrace, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Maine Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born in Lee, she was a daughter of Jasper and Hilda A. Nute Farrington. She was a graduate of Scarborough High School and Southern New Hampshire University with a degree in Business Administration. Because of her love for learning, Mrs. Turner continued to take educational courses throughout her life. For 20 years, she had been an executive with Alden Heating and Ventilating in Gorham.
